As the director of our Design Team, Laura’s passion for beauty and order shines through in every project she leads. She’s managed some of 2100’s biggest, gnarliest design projects (including a rebrand in the same year she had a baby), been a trail-blazer for multiethnicity, and done it all with grace and spiritual depth. An introvert’s introvert, Laura cherishes time alone with her thoughts and journals—all of which she’s saved since childhood.
Emily is living proof that God can use media to change lives. At Urbana 15, the 2100 videos she saw cut through her suspicion of media and inspired her to become a visual storyteller with a heart to tell stories of God’s kingdom on campus. A self-described “2100 groupie,” Emily’s infectious joy and adorable pup Lucy are both delightful parts of our team. And her compelling, imaginative video projects? We like those too.
Joseph’s work with InterVarsity incorporates all the things he loves: serving Jesus, video production, and amazing pastries frequently gifted by wonderful coworkers. What it doesn’t incorporate, sadly, is the fame from being in the Guinness Book of World Records for participating in the world’s largest pillow fight. Or the humility that prevents him from sharing about the numerous recognitions he received in intercollegiate film festivals. Don’t worry, Joseph—we’ll brag for you.
Toast with chocolate sprinkles? Steven says it’s a magnificent flavor combo. If his taste in breakfast food is anything like his video prowess (or his taste in fine coffee), we’d have to agree. One half of a husband/wife 2100 team (Ashlye leads our Editorial Team), Steven’s love for worship, Scripture, and multiethnicity inform every project he produces. His unique blend of skill and depth help him lead the team in GMPP (‘goosebump’ moments per project).
For someone whose favorite thing to do is nothing (“It’s underrated,” he tells us. “A quality I deeply value.”) Matt seems to have done a lot of cool things, including working at Disneyland and ABC. But when he’s taking it easy, you can find this Bay Area native and “Disneyphile” sipping boba tea and thinking about his other passion: telling stories from the margins to value and celebrate how God works in forgotten places and people.
Campus Web Ministries Director
In 40+ years as InterVarsity staff, Jeff’s done nearly everything: campus staff, editor/publisher of the Student Leadership Journal, and ministry start-up developer, to name a few. Like the astronomy student he once was, Jeff’s always looking to the bigger picture while he’s building web systems that serve staff and students. And, like the accomplished woodworker/builder he is today, he takes deep pride in making something both beautiful and useful for God’s kingdom.
Communications & Operations Manager
Erik’s life as a Christian started like many other students’ have: with an on-campus Bible study. That experience and love for students launched Erik into a ministry career as a campus staff, college pastor, and church planter. We’re grateful for his sharp mind for detail and strategy which keeps 2100’s day-to-day operations running efficiently. On the side, he loves to snowboard the peaks of Colorado and keep an eye out for the latest in contemporary fiction.
Communications Data Coordinator
In a zombie apocalypse, Sarah’s house is our team’s go-to: as a top-notch quilter, community garden manager, and canning expert, we’d have everything we need to survive and thrive. When she’s not being a mom to Emma and Hannah, Sarah’s using her diverse gifts and pastoral heart (developed as campus staff at UC-Santa Barbara) to lead our data analytics work. So do your worst, zombies. Sarah’s got our back.
Communications Project Manager
As a former college rower, Cory was always thinking about the finish line. As Project Manager, she’s the same way, stewarding our work from beginning to end, so our creative team can produce materials that share Jesus on campus. Without her organization and production skills, which are as numerous as her flair collection, we’d be lost. But thanks to her Carmen SanDiego-esque childhood (9 schools before turning 18), she’d still probably know where to find us.
Once dubbed Glorious Brother Dan while in Nairobi, Kenya, Dan served on InterVarsity Link staff in 1995, providing technical and video support with Eric Miller, the founder of 2100 Productions. Since then his work for 2100 has been so glorious, he now supervises the Production and Design teams. Dan is involved in all aspects of video production and he sets up the tech support for InterVarsity’s larger conferences.
Digital Marketing Specialist
Hanna’s all about creating welcoming spaces. She loves to host dinner gatherings, using her warmth, humor, and delicious food to create a sense of ‘home’ for her friends. That joy flows right into her 2100 role, sharing stories of our ministry that welcome people into partnership with God’s work on campus. When the party’s over and she’s ready for introvert time, she and her cat Mayday unwind with true crime or medical podcasts—and start planning the next gathering.
Director of Digital Services
When you bring a project to Mark, you know you’re placing it in the hands of a master craftsman. Mark takes the same care with his work that he does with his guitar-building and metal-working hobbies and brings the same curiosity that drives his audiobook consumption (50+ per year, mostly business and sci-fi). He’s a problem solver/tech aficionado to the bone, and our team is the better for having him.
Director of Marketing
Betsy’s prodigious musical abilities have garnered her rave reviews—first as a worship leader at Urbana 06 (while she served as campus staff in Iowa), and now as the leader of a much-in-demand jazz quintet. She’s a virtuoso in her leadership of our Marketing Team as well, using expertise honed in the trenches of advertising and non-profit work (including once for ‘The World’s Largest Brat Fest’) to fully fund our staff for campus work.
Director of Public Relations & Editorial Director
Christy aims to live the good life. For her, this means delving into literature, theology, philosophy, design, home restoration, and deep friendships. It also means serving InterVarsity as Director of Public Relations, Editorial and Web, where she leads the messaging and public relations for InterVarsity, and has a chance to demonstrates her love for InterVarsity’s mission, values, and people.
Katie’s all-capital-letters-LOVE for words and language extends far beyond her work crafting the perfect grant proposal. A voracious reader, she’s the only 2100 team member who’s also an Internet sensation (hosting a book podcast and running Life Between Words, her bookish YouTube channel and Instagram account). She’s also a mom to her three impossibly cute kiddos. Since you asked, her favorite books include Anne of Green Gables and Peace Like a River.
If you’re down to have a long chat about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Korean cooking, or underground hip-hop, Paul’s desk is your first stop. While you’re there, he can tell you how he met Jesus in his InterVarsity chapter and describe the joy he gets from helping students hear the gospel through his innovative design work. His rap hobby is probably his best-kept secret, but those design talents? They don’t stay hidden for long.
God used InterVarsity to transform Courtney’s life in amazing ways during college, and we’re so grateful he did. Not just for her, but also, selfishly, for us: not only do Courtney’s stylish designs help communicate and expand God’s kingdom, but our team gets to enjoy the delectable baked goods that often magically appear from her kitchen. Who knows if the Great British Bake-Off people will ever recognize her considerable talents, but we sure do.
Helen’s part of InterVarsity history: her grandfather helped start it in the US, so she’s a bit like campus ministry royalty. Her natural kindness keeps that from going to her head, which is good—between her knitting and crocheting talents, a singing voice that once drew an invitation to join a country band, and the millions of dollars her grants and major gift proposals have raised, she definitely could.
One half of our native Texan team (with husband Steven), Ashlye’s MO is energy and delight. She loves college students (she came to faith in our chapter at UT-Austin), and whether it’s leading worship, supervising our Editorial Team, or advocating for Latino/a staff, Ashlye’s vibrant spirit is never far from the surface. If it involves Disney movies, thrifting, or hanging out with people, you know Ashlye’s in her sweet spot.
Public Media Content Coordinator
Hearing Gordon’s basso profundo voice is a staple of any 2100 meeting—which makes sense given his 30 years of radio news experience. When he’s not biking or traveling, you can still find him on-air hosting a weekly podcast that combines his twin passions: broadcasting and Biblical archaeology. With us, he unearths and polishes stories of God’s transformation among students and faculty. “A privilege,” he calls it, which is also how we feel about having him on the team.
Senior Graphic Designer
When 2100 needs an idea, Gary’s dazzling creative mind has come to the rescue more times than anyone can count. He’s never been one to sit still for long—whether it’s painting, animating, linocut printing, or even those five days he spent deep in the Amazon jungle. But what keeps him with 2100 is seeing how art and design help students engage with, and ultimately be transformed by, the good news of Jesus.
Matt’s keen visual sense and eye for the perfect image started as an experiment with photography in college. He tried not to get carried away with his hobby, but (we’re happy to say) it carried him away instead—to 2100, where he supervises the Production Team and is our ace photographer. An extrovert with an introvert’s pastimes, Matt’s happy place is a secluded forest and a crackling campfire without a soul in sight.
Vice President of Communications & Marketing
Anyone who knows Adam for longer than 5 minutes knows him as a person whose excitement bursts outward, infused with passion and humor.
Happily for us, Mary’s gift of a green thumb extends far beyond her garden, where she magically (it’s magic to us, anyway) conjures beauty and sustenance from the frigid Wisconsin soil. She does the same for our web design, turning ideas and ‘what if?’s into practical communications solutions. Life just seems to follow Mary wherever she goes, whether it’s the garden, in her latest culinary exploits, or planning her next big travel adventure.
Writer & Proofreader
From the very beginning, stories have been a significant part of Nathan’s life. Writing, reading, watching, drawing—no matter the format or style, Nathan is enthralled by their imaginative power. After two years of teaching English, Nathan decided he’d rather be the storyteller instead and joined InterVarsity as a writer. That’s one item crossed off his bucket list, and we hope the others (meet LeBron James and visit The Shire in New Zealand) aren’t far behind.
Writer & Proofreader
It feels weird to write your own bio, right? But as a writer for 2100, it’s projects like this that land right in Drew’s wheelhouse. A climbing enthusiast, Studio Ghibli superfan, and part-time seminary student, when he’s not wordsmithing for 2100 Drew’s most at home on the baseball diamond or indulging his bottomless appetite for rom-coms.
Writer and Proofreader
As a founding member of “The Hot Dishes”, a group of middle-aged women whose mission is to provide meals for people in their community who are in crisis, Jennifer knows hospitality. She also knows writing (not to mention how to turn a phrase – she came up with “The Hot Dishes” name). It’s no wonder that she has found her niche as a writer at InterVarsity, thanking donors and thinking about how best to communicate and pray for our staff. We are blessed to have her as a part of our team.
