The Old Testament is compiled of many books and authors. Despite having different contributors, the theme and direction of this collection of books are all the same: a holy God seeking out a fallen people in order to reconcile them to himself. Ultimately, this theme leads us to the person of Jesus who redeems the world and fixes the broken relationship between God and people. This segment of the series timelines a short history of the patriarchs, starting with Abraham. After the flood, God desired to call out a group of people to be his own. So, he made a covenant with Abraham. God promised to bless Abraham and his descendents. So from Abraham a great nation was born, through his son Isaac, and then Isaac's son Jacob, and then Jacob's 12 sons. Their stories are of flawed people through whom God can still work mightily.
