The Old Testament is compiled of many books and authors. Despite having different contributors, the theme and direction of this collection of books are all the same: a holy God seeking out a fallen people in order to reconcile them to himself. Ultimately, this theme leads us to the person of Jesus who redeems the world and fixes the broken relationship between God and people. Part 3 of the Old Testament Overview focuses on the significance of Moses and the Exodus. Joseph, one of the patriarchs we learned about in Part 2 ruled Egypt generations before Moses was born. However, long after Joseph was forgotten, the Hebrew people still flourished and prospered in Egypt. This began to make the Pharaohs nervous, so they enslaved the Israelites. Moses was born into this tumultuous time, and God used him to free His people and lead them out of Egypt.
